For Your Information
Ebony Peterkin, also
known as Ebony “Lady Sticks” has won the title of Southern
California’s Top Drummer in the 2009 Next Great Drummer Search for
America’s Top Drummer.
Ebony literally blew away the competition with her style,
performance and level of expertise on the drums. The Next Great
Drummer Show (www.nextgreatdrummer.com)
in partnership with Sam Ash Music Stores this year held monthly FREE
Drum-Off Competitions and FREE Concerts at local Sam Ash Music Store
locations.
In August, this year a Next Great Drummer competition was held in
Las Vegas, NV and was at the end of accepting contestants when Ebony
called to say that she’d taken a Grey Hound bus to the competition
and was in a cab and was lost. One of the Las Vegas Sam Ash staff
members stayed on the phone and provided clear directions to the
store. Upon arriving Ebony, the only female in the competition that
day readied herself as the last contestant, took a breath, played
her two minute solo and wowed the judges. Needless to say, she won!
The Next Great Drummer Shows are held annually January through
September and are the brain child of world-renowned drummer Eric
Seats and his business partner Chrystal Allen-O’Jon. The purpose of
these shows are to provide a safe, yet fun forum for youth and young
adults to display their drum skills and network with other drum
professionals.
Contestants are judged by
award-winning producers, who offer constructive criticism to
encourage and inspire growth. The winners of each city of each
contest compete in a finale at Knotts Berry Farm Amusement Park in
